Honda Accord Sedan Engineering
 |
With free-flowing intake and exhaust tuning,
the Honda Accord Sedan pumps out plenty of horsepower. A Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system helps to
smooth the power delivery. And the Maintenance Minder™ system
monitors how you drive–and reminds you when it's time for service.
VTEC® adjusts valve timing and lift to increase low-end torque as
well as high-rpm power. In the 2.4-liter engine, i-VTEC® adds
Variable Timing Control™ (VTC™), boosting power and economy. The
handling is a product of the elegant double wishbone suspension with
five-link rear setup. Front and rear stabilizer bars (front only on
VP) make for quick cornering. Sharply honed power rack-and-pinion
steering puts you in control, and 4-wheel disc brakes on most
models, help ensure smooth, confident
stops. |
|
166-hp, 2.4-Liter,16-Valve DOHC i-VTEC Engine |
 |
The DOHC i-VTEC® system enhances the effect of VTEC® on Accord's 4-cylinder engine by adding Variable Timing Control,™ or VTC.™ |
|
|
244-hp, 3.0-Liter, 24-Valve SOHC VTEC® V-6 Engine
|
 |
The single-overhead-camshaft SOHC VTEC® system is designed to deliver both high performance and high fuel efficiency. |
| |
5-Speed Automatic Transmission |
 |
A 5-speed automatic transmission features Grade Logic Control. The transmission uses the engine's broad torque curve for brisk acceleration, optimal fuel economy and smooth-shifting characteristics. |
| |
Close-Ratio 6-Speed Manual Transmission |
 |
The clutch mechanism on the 6-speed transmission incorporates a hydraulic delay that eliminates abrupt engagement and clutch-grab, resulting in smooth engagement under various conditions. |
| |
Double Wishbone Suspension |
 |
The advanced 4-wheel front and rear double wishbone suspensions use both lower and upper control links. This allows Honda engineers the flexibility to tune the suspension for predictable cornering feel and emergency maneuvering, to ensure a smooth and stable ride. |
| |
Drive-by-Wire™ Throttle System |
 |
Instead of a mechanical linkage from the accelerator to the fuel-injection throttle, the Accord Sedan uses "Drive-by-Wire" technology. The system uses an electronic position sensor connected to the accelerator pedal that sends an electronic signal to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). |
| |
Driver's Seat with 8-Way Power Adjustment |
 |
EX-L and all V-6 models, except the SE-V6, have an 8-way power driver's seat. The front seats on the Coupe are 20-inches wide and offer numerous adjustments. The seat-cushion angle and contour provide more thigh support. A manual seat-height adjustment is standard on LX models. A power height-adjustable seat is standard on 4-cylinder EX models. |
| |
Grade Logic Control |
 |
Accord automatic transmissions use Honda's Grade Logic Control system. This system differs from other computer controlled shift programming because it can detect vehicle driving situations and then set appropriate shift points for the car. This feature avoids gear hunting on uphills and descents, and downshifts for added engine braking. |
| |
Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition |
 |
Planning a trip? Lost in the suburbs? Either way, the navigation system is here to help. With up to eight gigabytes of memory and voice recognition, it provides convenient directions using a series of 24 global positioning satellites. |
| |
Remote Entry System with Power Window Control |
 |
In addition to controlling the power door locks for the driver's and all other doors, this system will also lower all the power windows. This allows drivers to vent the interior of the Accord as they approach their vehicle. |
| |
Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control |
 |
This sophisticated safety device aids the driver in retaining control of the vehicle if wheel slippage is detected. When the driver is cornering or must make a sudden maneuver, the system can sense oversteer and understeer and can brake individual wheels and/or reduce power to restore the driver's intended course. |
